Place-based education is at its best when it is collaborative, has a public purpose, and is grounded in community. Missouri's Placeworks program embraces all three of these concepts.
The brainchild of Ozarks' artist Kate Baird, Placeworks brings together regional artists, art teachers, students, and local foundations in an exemplary effort to provide classroom students with authentic artistic experiences and celebrate local culture. Entering its second year, the program receives funding support from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and CONCO, an Ozarks-based business.
